service
As mentioned in the candidate statement, I consider my persistent presence online as a form of service, engaged as I am in academic networking and the sharing of ideas and information. Where appropriate, I draw attention to UM-Flint's social media efforts and encourage interested parties to follow the M Times, Sigma Tau Delta, Critical Issues Forum, and other campus groups, initiatives, organizations, and programs.
While some might see me as more influential and visible online than on campus, I am working toward a better balance. Serving on the Academic Standards Committee is one way I am doing that. Not only am I getting an policy-oriented education, but I am also assisting in the execution and future shape of said policies. Again, I received an earlier, similar education while involved in the development of assessment measures for First Year Experience courses as well as reforms related to General Education. And I look to make further contributions to the UM-Flint community by devising a semester schedule that will allow me to attend CAS meetings with much more regularity.
Included below are select examples of my influence and visibility as well as my service to UM-Flint and beyond. Taken together, I think these examples show a calculated effort to both learn and serve.
